The members of the Southern Provincial Council had initiated a series of meeting with the Government Ministers over obtaining duty-free vehicles to the PC members, sources said.

Southern Provincial Councillor Amarasiri Kuruwage said that they had already met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ministers Sarath Fonseka, Navin Dissanayake, and Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and made requests in respect of issues they face.

At the meeting with Minister Sarath Fonseka, the Provincial Councillors had argued that denying the right of the Provincial Councillors to purchase duty-free vehicles was unfair when even Public Sector officials had that facility.
