Strike or not, GMOA to decide on 19th

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) to decide to resort into a strike or not over ten demands including delays to increase the Disturbance, Availability and Transport (DAT) allowance paid to medical officers. Addressing a press conference, GMOA Spokesman, Dr. Nalinda Herat said GMOA Executive committee to convene today to discuss Government’s allege silence over its demands. In a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena on last week, the GMOA had informed ten issues pertaining to medical officers and urged the health authorities to resolve the issues immediately. However, no response were made to the GMOA’s demands by the government so far, as such it would consider for islandwide strike action. Meanwhile, GMOA will take a final decision over the matter on Thursday (19) during a scheduled emergency Central Committee meeting.
