DFT-10-New LATE-CITY-MB_1-4Indian vocal prodigy Shreya Ghoshal will return to the island this September for a concert that will 

no doubt linger in ones memories long after. Presented by The Bollywood Leisure (Pvt.) Ltd. the concert will be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Shreya Ghoshal needs no introduction. Having started her singing career at the tender age of 4, Ghoshal hit the big times when she participated in the television singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, eventually winning the title. The show also got her noticed by Veteran filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bansali, helping her position her foot in the door for a strong Bollywood introduction, which came in the form of Bansali’s romantic drama Devdas. 

She was only 16 years old when she sang the first song for the film, Bairi Piya, with Udit Narayanan. Consequently, her songs in Devdas won her a host of awards including a National Film Award, a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and a Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent.

In a relatively short span of time, Ghoshal went on to lend her voice to more than 300 films in various languages, winning a multitude of awards and hearts in the process. While her renowned dulcet tones tug at the listeners heartstrings, she’s able to effortlessly switch up the tempo and have the audience on their feet. The sweetness and serenity of her voice, the honey dipped inflection all add to the allure; it is also what sets Ghoshal apart. Unsurprisingly, she is one of the most sought after Indian playback singers.

Aside from her playback singing career, Ghoshal has also appeared as a judge on several television reality shows like Voice of India, Music Ka Maha Muqubla, X Factor and more. She has also headlined numerous concerts in India and abroad, including a scintillating performance at Saint Denis Festival – France, Royal Albert Hall – UK, the closing ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2006, Sydney Opera House 2008 & and a multicity tour of the United States, UK, Australia, New Zealand and many more countries multiple times.

She has been honoured by United States state of Ohio, where  Gov. Ted Strickland declared 26 June 2010 as "Shreya Ghoshal Day". In April 2013, she was honoured in London by the selected members of House of Commons of the United Kingdom. She also featured five times in the Forbes list of the top 100 celebrities from India. In 2017, she became the first Indian singer to have her wax statue in Madame Tussauds Museum.

A versatile singer with an incredible vocal range, able to effortlessly tackle challenging songs, Ghoshal is known for her stage presence. And fans will be able to witness the magic on the 8th of September at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium at 7pm.
