SL Navy saves six Indian fishermen from watery grave

Six Indian fishermen who had got into difficulties within Sri Lanka’s territorial waters were rescued from a watery grave by the Sri Lanka Navy on Tuesday.   Navy Spokesman Dinesh Bandara said the officers and sailors of the Navy’s Fast Gun Boat, which was on patrol duty, had rescued the fishermen some 15 nautical miles off Kovillan Point Lighthouse.Commander Bandara said the fishermen were handed over to a fast attack craft and transferred to SLNS Uththara in Kankesanthurai. After providing basic first aid, the fishermen were handed over to the KKS Police for further investigations.
