Esala festival of Kotte Rajamaha Vihara concludes after water cutting ceremony

The Esala festival of the Kotte Rajamaha Vihara ended on Sunday (9) after the water cutting ceremony in Diyawannaoya lake. It was followed by the Dalada Perehera in the 
previous night.   

The Dalada Perehera set off from the temple after the casket of sacred relics was placed on the tusker Nedungamuwe Raja by the Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs Wijedasa Rajapakse and Minister of Mega Polis and Western Development Patalee Champika Ranwaka.  

 It proceeded along Rajamaha Vihara, Jubilee Post, Pitakotte main road, Pitakotte junction, Pagoda road, Vihara Mawatha, and Naga Vihara road and returned to the temple.  

It comprised the tuskers carrying regalia of the Vishnu, Kataragama, Saman, Sath Pattini, and Vibhishana Devalas.  The Esala festival was organised by the Dayaka Sabha of the temple and the resident monks under the guidance of Ven, Aluthnuwara Anuruddha Thera.
