There is a possibility that Sri Lanka will receive by next year the certification of elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV.

During the past two years such patients have not been detected from Sri Lanka, Minister of Health Rajitha Senarathna says.  Sri Lanka had been able to achieve several such certification during the past several years. These achievements include Elimination of Malaria in 2015, Filaria in 2016 and elimination of maternal neonatal tetanus in 2017, the minister said.

He also expressed the possibility of achieving certification for elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV disease next year as these patients have not been reported during the last
two years.

Sri Lanka was also awarded the certification for elimination of rubella this year.
