Keith Noyahr abduction and assault

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday recorded a statement from former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa for over three hours, regarding the abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyahr in 2008.

Mr Rajapaksa had given a statement before over the case once.


He arrived at the CID around 10 a.m last morning and had given the statement till 1.30 p.m.


Earlier, the CID also rerecorded a statement from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at his residence in this regard.


The Attorney General informed the court that it was necessary to record statements from both Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka over the case.


However, a CID source said that they were yet to inform Field Marshal Fonseka to give a statement with the CID.
