Law and Order Deputy Minister Nalin Bandara said yesterday  neither President Maithripala Sirisena nor Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had ordered IGP Pujith  Jayasundara to resign from his post within two weeks as reported in the media.

In response to a question raised by joint opposition MP  Kanaka Herath, he told parliament that neither the ministry nor the National  Police Commission had been informed of such a decision.

JO MP Padma Udaya Shantha Gunasekara said it was reported  that the President had informed the IGP to resign over the phone for  which deputy minister Bandara said they did not listen to telephone  conversations.
