A nine-hour long statement was recorded from former Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) DIG Nalaka de Silva yesterday by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over the inquiry into the alleged assassination plot on President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the former DIG was summoned by the CID again to record further statements today as well.

Mr. Silva arrived at the CID at around 9. 15 last morning and left the CID at around 6.15 yesterday evening.

He was summoned last Tuesday (16) to appear before the CID and was re-summoned yesterday as he failed to make it that day.
