The efforts initiated by many in the context of the enactment of the new constitution including the political solution has become a question mark now due to the recent acts perpetrated by the President, ITAK Co-General Secretary and NPC Chairman C.V.K. Sivagnanam said.

He made the above comment at his residence located in Kalviyankadu, Jaffna on Saturday, 10.

Speaking further he said that President Maithripala Sirisena had violated the constitution through his high-handed act and as such this issue can be taken to Court.

“A situation may arise for Parliament to continue in the same manner in the event of proving the act of the President, a flaw by Court. Despite the President dissolving the Parliament and announcing the date for the General Election, there is a possibility for the change in date for the General Elections, if the Election Commission seeks Court in that context,” ITAK Co-Secretary cum NPC Chairman Sivagnanam said.

Meanwhile, the act perpetrated by the President had caused a severe impact on the Tamils, he said.
