SLR depreciates to over Rs.182 against the Dollar

The Sri Lankan Rupee depreciated further against the Dollar yesterday with the selling rate past the Rs.182 mark.   


According to the exchange rates issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) yesterday (28) the selling price of a US Dollar was Rs. 182.54 and the purchasing price of a US Dollar was Rs. 178.32.  

The Sri Lankan Rupee has depreciated by 14.3% comparative to USD from January 1 to November 23, according to the CBSL.Since the political crisis began in the country the value of the rupee had depreciated by 4.1 %, a Reuters report states.

Meanwhile, Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy recently revealed that Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves were US$ 7.2 bn as at November 14 and was hopeful that these reserves will reach US$ 7.8 billion by the end of the year.
