The current political crisis in the country should not be allowed to disrupt the lives of the people, President.Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday.

He requested all public servants to carry out their responsibilities and prevent any breakdown in the services to the public.

The President said this at the ceremony held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium to confirm the appointments of Samurdhi development department officers.

More than 7,000 were given their appointment letters by the President.

He said he had appointed all ministerial secretaries under the powers vested in him by the Constitution and therefore they should carry out their duties even amid any crises that may occur in the country.

“In sustaining the economy of the low income families, the service rendered by Samurdhi movement was unparalleled that also led to bring economic stability to the country,” the President said and commended the duties carried out by the Samurdhi officers.
