Nugegoda Police division Anti-Narcotic programme concludes

A week long Anti-Narcotic programme in Nugegoda Police division was held recently to mark the Anti-Narcotic Week which was a concept of President Maith ripala Sirisena. Officers of the Mirihana Police Headquarters and children from eight schools in Nugegoda area participated in this programme.  


The programme included a series of seminars to create awareness among schoolchildren on the evils of liqour and drugs. The theme of the seminars was “Strengthening Anti-Narcotic Movement through School”. 

 
The seminars were held at Sri Jayawardenepura Boys School, St.Thomas College, Siddhartha Vidyalaya, St. John’s College, Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, Rahula Vidyalaya, Ananda Shastralaya, and St. Joseph’s Girls’ School.   
DIG Colombo Division Wasantha Wickremesinghe and SP Nugegoda Division Samantha Sigera delivered the keynote addresses of the seminars.   


The children participated in art, essay, handicraft and oratory competitions which formed a part of the programme and the winners received prizes. Rev. Fr. Nilantha Uduwaka, HQI Mirihana Police CI Hemathan Wijeyawardene, OIC Community Police Unit SI N.S.B. Wijewardene, Major. C.A. Wanaguru participated.
