Appropriation Bill 2019 to House today

The government is expected to present Appropriation Bill for 2019 to Parliament today. Annual expenditure for the year is Rs 4,470 billion. The Cabinet approved the Bill on January 8, 2019. The budget deficit is estimated to be 4.8 percent of the GDP this year. 

The second reading of the Bill is expected to take place in March 2019 while the third reading vote on the Budget will take place on April 5, 2019. 

Rs.2, 200 billion had been allocated for debt servicing in 2019. This is the highest a Government in the history of this country is compelled to bear.   

The Ministry of Finance said the recurrent expenditure includes Rs.1,425 billion while the Capital Expenditure will be Rs.838 billion.
