Three men and a 13-year-old boy had been killed and a 14-year-old was injured in multiple shootings carried out by four gunmen in Kosgoda early yesterday morning, the Police said.

They said the gunmen arrived on two motorcycles, had carried out three shootings at the Manik village, Kurundugampiyasa and Yodhapitiya in Kosgoda yesterday.

The shooters carried out the first shooting in the Manik village breaking into a rest house and shooting a man inside.

38-year-old Ukwatte Arachchige Kapilaratna was killed in the shooting.

Later, the gunmen entered a house at the Kurundugampiyasa area and opened fire at a 14-year-old, who sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital. Then the gunmen carried out the third shooting at a house in the Yudhapitiya area in Kosgoda, where they opened fire at three men inside the house. A 50-year-old man and his two sons, Dumindu Wishmika (13), Jagamuni Ayesh (21), were killed in the shooting.

The Police said a T56 and a pistol had been used for the shooting.

Police suspect an underworld rivalry might have led to the shooting but investigations are being carried out by the Kosgoda Police to determine the reason of the shooting. No one had been arrested in connection with the shooting, the Police said.
