Drug trafficking group arrested in Anuradhapura

A drug trafficker from Padukka , his mistress and two others procuring heroin to the drug peddlers in Anuradhapura area through Easy-Cash system were arrested by the Anuradhapura police during a raid in the Anuradhapura Town.  
They were in possession of 4.360 grams of heroin in 91 packets at the time of arrest. Investigations revealed that they had been carrying on the racket for a long time and having dealings with drug traffickers 
in Colombo.  

Police had carried out the raid on intelligence reports received by the Special Operations Unit under the DIG North Central Division Senerath Sandungahawatta. One of the suspect from Dharmapala Mawatha in Wijeyapura in Anuradhapura who was arrested first, and information provided under interrogation led to the arrest of the main suspect, his mistress and another.  

Investigations revealed that the 19- year -old young woman was an employee of a massage clinic in the Anuradhapura Town. Police said she had 1.10grams of heroin in 20 packets at the time of her arrest.   
During further investigations the police seized two motorcycles, and two smart phones used by them to carry on the racket.  

OIC Special Operations Unit CI Prabhath Gallage, Sergeant 20545 Edirisuriya, Woman Police Sergeant 4408 Nilanthi ,PCs 48317 Bandara, 66934 Rajaratne, 56573 Samrakoon 61406 Nishan, 91968 Ekanayake and 70563 Civil Defence Constable carried out the raid on the instructions of DIG Senerath Sandungahawatta.
